Apollo Tyres Wins Daimler Truck Supplier Award for Sustainability
Indian tyre maker Apollo Tyres was among seven global suppliers honored with the Daimler Truck Supplier Award 2024 for outstanding commitment to sustainability. The awards were given during an event focused on future transport strategies, where Daimler Truck engaged with 200 suppliers and partners to strengthen cooperation. The event’s theme was “Empowering Tomorrow – Together Today.”
Apollo Tyres was specifically recognized for its efforts in biodiversity and CO₂ neutrality at its Indian site. The award winners were chosen for their exceptional performance and strong partnerships with Daimler Truck.
Andreas Gorbach, a Board Member of Daimler Truck Holding AG, highlighted the importance of reliable partnerships as the industry moves towards decarbonization and digitalization. He emphasized that working with strong partners is crucial for making diesel engines more efficient and developing zero-emission and intelligent vehicles.
Dr. Marcus Schoenenberg, Head of Global Procurement & Supplier Management at Daimler Truck, stressed the need for suppliers who share Daimler’s vision of sustainable transport. He noted that these suppliers contribute valuable ideas and see Daimler as a strong and reliable partner.
The event featured workshops and discussions on topics like autonomous driving, supply chain sustainability, and economic trends. Suppliers also experienced Daimler Truck’s latest products and innovations through driving experiences and product exhibitions. Daimler Truck aims to give suppliers an inside look at their operations and promote idea exchange.
Dr. Schoenenberg also acknowledged the crucial role of the global supplier network in delivering high-quality, efficient trucks and buses, as well as convincing customers of new emission-free technologies. He expressed gratitude for the committed and strong suppliers partnering with Daimler Truck.
WINNERS OF THE DAIMLER TRUCK SUPPLIER AWARD 2024
1. BREMBO: Brembo won the award for its innovative and efficient brake discs used in Daimler Truck vehicles. These Italian-made brake discs give the Mercedes-Benz Actros an edge. Brembo has been a trusted partner since 2003, and their long-term collaboration is highly valued.

2. DENSO CORPORATION: Denso was awarded for its long-term cooperation and dependable supply of fuel injection systems, sensors, and safety control mechatronics. Their reliable partnership, lasting over 40 years, has ensured consistent delivery and excellent supply chain management, even during challenges like natural disasters and parts shortages.

3. RANDONCORP: Randoncorp, a key supplier in Brazil, has partnered with Mercedes-Benz do Brasil for 24 years. They received the award for their expertise in developing axles, axle suspensions, and electrification technologies.

4. WESTFALEN AG: Westfalen AG was awarded for its expertise in liquid hydrogen filling stations. Daimler Truck depends on Westfalen AG for supplying hydrogen to its fuel cell test benches. The company is noted for its high flexibility and quick response times.

5. APOLLO TYRES: Apollo Tyres won the Daimler Truck Supplier Award in the Sustainability category for its efforts in biodiversity and CO₂ neutrality at its site in India. Their initiatives include reforestation and increasing renewable energy use. Additionally, Apollo Tyres supports the truck driver community with health programs and empowers disadvantaged women.

6. CORPAC Germany GmbH & Co won the Daimler Truck Supplier Award for Sustainability. They received this award for making a new kind of anti-corrosion film that helps protect parts during transportation. By making the film thinner, they cut down Daimler Truck AG’s CO₂ emissions.
