Eicher Announces Debut of Electric Vehicles in Small Commercial Segment at Bharat Mobility Global Show 2024

Eicher Trucks & Buses, a division of VE Commercial Vehicles, announced its entry into the small commercial vehicle (SCV) segment with the global launch of its first electric truck at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024. This new range, called Pro Business Pro and Planet, 2 to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW) is designed to meet city and suburban distribution requirements. The deliveries shall start to commence in the year 2025,  followed by CNG and clean diesel options.

The importance of the launch was brought into the picture by Vinod Agarwal, MD & CEO, of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, who said, “As India grows in the Amrit Kaal, by rapid urbanization, booming e-commerce, increased personal consumption, and the rise of the hub-and-spoke distribution the SCV segment will be driven. In a major development for eco-friendly deliveries, Eicher Motors, part of the VECV group, unveiled India’s first-ever 5.5-ton electric truck, the Eicher Pro 2055 EV. Since its launch in September 2023, the Pro 2055 EV has been the talk of the delivery truck market, as it offers a sustainable solution for the growing e-commerce sector. This launch marks a significant achievement for VECV’s ongoing commitment to modernization and promoting smart sustainability practices. The Eicher Pro 8055 LNG/CNG truck, which could effortlessly switch between LNG and CNG fuels, became additionally on show. It is intended for long-distance, clean transportation. Also on display was the Eicher Pro 12m EV bus, designed for eco-friendly and pleasant worker transportation.
