Magenta Mobility Deploys 100+ Tata Ace EVs to Accelerate Electric Fleet
Magenta Mobility an electric mobility provider has announced the deployment of over 100 units of Tata Ace EVs. This achievement is part of a strategic partnership between Magenta Mobility and Tata Motors. India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors, envisioned the deployment of 500 Tata Ace EVs, as agreed upon in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in October 2023. The deployed fleet comprises over 60 units of the established Tata Ace EV and over 40 of the recently launched Tata Ace EV 1000.
Building a Greener Future
The collaboration of Magenta Mobility and Tata Motors is a testament to their shared vision of revolutionizing intra-city distribution through advanced, zero-emission mobility solutions. Maxson Lewis, Founder & CEO of Magenta Mobility stated “The deployment of 100+ Tata Ace EVs marks a significant stride towards our ambitious ‘Ab Ki Baar Dus Hazaar’ program, aimed at deploying 10,000 electric vehicles by September 2025. By synergizing Tata Motors’ expertise in four-wheel small commercial vehicles (SCVs) with our integrated capabilities in logistics, charging infrastructure, and technology, this partnership is poised to redefine industry standards.”
Electric Powertrain Innovation
The new Tata Ace EV is based on the EVOGEN powertrain and offers a compelling proposition for businesses to adopt electric mobility. The extended 7-year warranty of battery and a 5-year comprehensive maintenance package provides peace of mind to fleet operators while ensuring operational efficiency.
Vinay Pathak, Vice President & Business Head – SCVPU, Tata Motors, adds “Marking a major milestone in our partnership with Magenta Mobility, we take immense pride in the deployment of Tata Ace EVs into their fleet. This reaffirms our shared vision of revolutionizing intra-city distribution through advanced, zero-emission mobility solutions. The Ace EV, a product of our co-creation efforts, offers unparalleled performance, reliability, and operational efficiency while contributing to a greener future for India. This deployment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to democratizing sustainable e-cargo transportation nationwide. Together, we are paving the way for a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally conscious future for India” by highlighting the significance of the partnership.
Sustainable and Efficient Deliveries
The Tata Ace EV is ideally suited for last-mile deliveries and intra-city logistics, offering a practical and eco-friendly alternative to traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. Efficiently, with its compact size and maneuverability, the Tata Ace EV can navigate narrow streets and congested areas, making it perfect for urban mobility. Additionally, the operating cost of electric powertrain mobility may be lower and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
A Turning Point for Electric Mobility
Magenta Mobility’s large-scale deployment of Tata Ace EVs signifies a pivotal moment for electric mobility in India. The key features are all-weather operational, an advanced battery cooling system, and a regenerative braking system to boost the driving range. It will allow regular and fast charging capabilities for a high range. This vehicle is powered by a 27kW (36hp) motor which produces 130 Nm of peak torque to ensure sufficient pickup and the gradability makes the vehicle easy to climb on hilly terrain in fully loaded conditions.
This collaboration between two industry leaders paves the way for the wider adoption of electric commercial vehicles and fosters a cleaner, more sustainable future for urban transportation. Magenta Mobility is fully loaded with the most popular investors including HPCL, BP, Morgan Stanley, JITO Angel Network, and Indian American philanthropist Kiran Patel. The success of this initiative is likely to inspire other businesses to explore the potential of electric mobility solutions, accelerating the transition towards a greener tomorrow.
