Important FASTag Update – Essential Information for Tags Over 3 Years Old
Starting August 1, all FASTags must be connected to your vehicle’s registration number and chassis number. New vehicle owners also have an extra requirement. There are new FASTag rules coming into effect in August, which include these changes.
FASTag providers have until October 31 to update the KYC details for all FASTags issued between three and five years ago. As a customer, you should ensure your KYC information is current to avoid any disruptions in service.
FASTags older than five years must be replaced, so it’s important to check the age of your FASTag and take action if needed.
For those with older vehicles, this update period is crucial. Between August 1 and October 31, FASTag providers need to update KYC information for tags that are three to five years old and replace those older than five years. Missing these deadlines could cause major issues, so it’s essential to stay informed.
Additionally, from August 1 (today), all FASTags must be linked to the vehicle’s registration number and chassis number. New vehicle owners must update their registration number within 90 days of purchase. Providers are also required to keep their databases accurate and up-to-date, upload clear photos of the vehicle’s front and side, and ensure each FASTag is connected to a mobile number for smooth communication.
The final deadline for completing all KYC updates is October 31, 2024, so it’s wise not to wait until the last minute.
